rthday last week and hit the 50 mark!!!! %&*$# In the pics are the birthday cake resplendant with sufficient candles to completely cover the cake, Dave exercising at gym and Dave and partner Llewellyn in the couple of snaps taken for Dave's last days in the 40s..... lol.

We have been travellers in our country again. On Sun we went up with some of our guests from the Guesthouse as well as members of the Facebook group Gay Durban to visit the Howick Falls, about an hour west of Durban, then on to the Stables Wine farm for winetasting and lunch. Was an awesome day-trip. 
It is always great to see "old" friends - one of our guests from the opening days of the Guesthouse, Ludwig from Pretoria returns to visit, joined by our "frequent flyer" or "old faithful" Rick the energiser bunny..lol.. who is always full of fun and chatter. Thanks for your happy returns guys!!

The fun and sun was in Durban this weekend as Guests arrived for the International Boat Show at Durban Harbour and the annual Air Show at Virginia Airport takes to the skies. We are off to sit on the beach and watch the awesome display overhead whist basking in the winter sun. Seen in the photo having breakfast at the guesthouse are Eugene, Bruce, Leon and Andre, all from Johannesburg, whilst guests Paul and Beyers are still in bed on this mid-morning sunny day..lol. Hope you're having a great time in Durbs guys and that we see you all here again soon for more of the Durban action. 
A glorious sunny day greeted Durban as we woke up to the morning of the Vodacom July Handicap - our premier horseracing event of the year. Having a drink on our rooftop sundeck overlooking the city and race track are (top photo from left to right) Michael from Johannesburg, Llewellyn guesthouse co-owner, Dave guesthouse co-owner, and Alewyn from Cape Town. In the second photo, dressed to kill and in line for top honours in the fashion stakes are our guests Gareth, Monique, Derick and Dillon all from Johannesburg. In the third photo are Elrich and Antoine also from Johannesburg. Lastly, ready for the races, are Llewellyn and myself (Dave).
The heat is on in Durban the next two weeks as our main outdoor events of the year take advantage of Durban's sizzling winter sun. This Saturday it's the Vodacom Durban July - South Africa's Premier horseracing event and fashion extravaganza. Of course we will be there along with our Guests coming for the dress-up and fashion - also South Africa's top fashion event of the year. The traditional 13th Race (YouTube video clip) is one in which the guys bare all down to their jocks and take a sprint down the main straight to the finish while the fashion fundis look on agog. And the after-parties are legendary. Durban's gay club The Lounge is hosting a 330 after-party which will see Durban rock till sunrise.
And for those wanting a little less dress-up, and some more hot bodies, the boyz will be out on the beach for the Beach Festival and Mr Price Pro international surfing event that has made Durban famous over it's 30+ year history. So Durban's where the action is this July. 
At last Durban's only gay club, The Lounge, at 226 Stamford Hill Road, has it's own website up and running. Click on the link above to access the site. Well done guys. We missed the party last night, but reports are that the music and the talent was good. We are regular visitors and will see you again soon.
Kevin and Pierre from Johannesburg spent a couple of days in Durban and Pierre went home sporting a new Versace logo tattoo from Electric Eye tattoo shop at Gateway Theatre of Shopping. Hope it heals up nicely and you have fond memories of your branding in Durban..

You'd never believe it's winter in South Africa - but not in Durban here on the sunny east coast. We've just enjoyed a long-weekend of glorious sunshine and joined our guest Darren (from London) at North Beach where the sun and surf was awesome.
Gay Durban now has an official Facebook group, called Gay Durban. If you do a search on Facebook you will be able to find us and can join. We already have over 90 members and these numbers are growing. You will find on there links to this blog as well as invitations to upcoming events we are organising, like our cocktails eve this Tuesday as well as the gay group all going to the Madame Zingara show on the 4th July... see story below. Awesome, Spectacular, Extravagant, Exotic, even homo-erotic are some of the words to describe this decadent exotic and fantastic dinner and Show we attended at the SunCoast Casino complex last night. 
uys in the Show who did spectacular manouvres and acrobatics were also enough to warrant a second visit alone, whilst the stained glass, wooden panneled and mirrored opulent marquee was a marvel to behold. We were also impressed with the exhuberance of all of the cast and staff who were out to woo and bedazzle all of the 300 plus audience who were mezmerised by the performance. You can dress up too, and here's a pic of LLewellyn with some boobies Ian bought for us at the well-stocked party shop at the show.
On Friday we all went for a jol around the harbour. Once or twice a year I organise a booze cruise for clients and staff and this was one of them. In the photo are Dave (left) and Llewellyn on board the Sea Joy. It was a beautiful night and it is only when you see our port city of Durban from the sea and harbour side do you realise how beautiful it really is with the sparkling lights at night. 
Meet Fred from Johannesburg who is our music man. Fred was training the Justice Department's procurement staff in Durban while he was a guest with us and brought some 80 gigs of music on his laptop which has now been transferred to ours. We are in the process of listening to the music and preparing suitable playlists for all occasions. Thanks Fred.. it is awesome stuff.
