Out with the old, in with the new

Maintenance at the coast is always tricky as our sea air and humidity kills most outdoor-type furniture quickly.

The east coast Home and Garden Show was a great opportunity to look at imported furniture and offer a range we do not usually see in the limited shops locally. So here's out with our patio furniture and in with the new.

New patio comfort
The comfortable 8-seater conversation table allows you to sit comfortably around our pool/bar area, chatting to other guests whilst sipping your favourite drink.

Fire Truck drives through Africa to Durban

This time in 2010 South Africa and Durban was in the grips of Word Cup fever. The opening game in Durban was Germany vs Australia and we had 7 Germans and 7 Australians in the guesthouse - including some guys who drove here from Bieleveld Germany in a landrover and a Fire Engine to get here in time for their team's first game which they won.

And yesterday Germany beat Portugal 4-0 in their Group G game in Brasil.

In fact I started my World Cup blog specifically to capture the spirit of the World Cup, then after the event decided to keep it on as my personal blog about life here in Durban. Here's a glimpse of what I posted about the previous World Cup Germany games, as well as the story of the fire engine through Africa arriving here at the Guesthouse.

Durban in Winter

Who would believe it is mid-winter here in Durban. Our day temperatures are 25c which is normal for our hot beach city in Winter. No wonder it was the 2010 football world cup city to visit! We're definitely the city to enjoy for stunning weather in South Africa.
