We had Guests Portia and Lauren at the Guesthouse this week on a mission to market the skills and fruits of labour of Eastern Cape artists. They have been making an unusual and beautiful collection of jewellry. The collection includes beaded wire necklaces, bracelets and rings in a range of dazzling white, black, silver and neon colours. Both girls work for Aid to Artisans, a charitable organisation that trains and promotes artisans principally from the Eastern Cape to run a manufacturing and marketing business that is sustainable. They also promote and market the jewellry nationally and internationally and help improve designs to increase the appeal of the finished product to the international community.
