Awesome, Spectacular, Extravagant, Exotic, even homo-erotic are some of the words to describe this decadent exotic and fantastic dinner and Show we attended at the SunCoast Casino complex last night. Cape Town's Coast of Dreams production of Madame Zingara's Aphrodisia is wowing Durban audiences and if you are in Durban between now and the 31st August, you have to spend the R300 per person on a ticket to this show. It was excellent value with a gourmet 4 course meal that excited the taste buds and had those in our group vowing to come back. The two semi-clad guys in the Show who did spectacular manouvres and acrobatics were also enough to warrant a second visit alone, whilst the stained glass, wooden panneled and mirrored opulent marquee was a marvel to behold. We were also impressed with the exhuberance of all of the cast and staff who were out to woo and bedazzle all of the 300 plus audience who were mezmerised by the performance. You can dress up too, and here's a pic of LLewellyn with some boobies Ian bought for us at the well-stocked party shop at the show.

On Friday we all went for a jol around the harbour. Once or twice a year I organise a booze cruise for clients and staff and this was one of them. In the photo are Dave (left) and Llewellyn on board the Sea Joy. It was a beautiful night and it is only when you see our port city of Durban from the sea and harbour side do you realise how beautiful it really is with the sparkling lights at night.
Meet Fred from Johannesburg who is our music man. Fred was training the Justice Department's procurement staff in Durban while he was a guest with us and brought some 80 gigs of music on his laptop which has now been transferred to ours. We are in the process of listening to the music and preparing suitable playlists for all occasions. Thanks Fred.. it is awesome stuff.
A must see for theatre goers, party lovers and gourmet diners is this extravaganza on our not-to-be-missed Durban calendar.. Madame Zingara

Well done guys and thanks for coming from such illustrious establishments to join us at our guesthouse.
And in the 3rd photo, enjoying breakfast at the Guesthouse after a gruelling 4 days at Indaba is Jacob of SA Travel Centre Holidays of Cape Town. Go well and for those returning to Indaba next year, we look forward to catching up with you again.
A lot of our guests say that the photos of our Guesthouse on our website and this blog don't do full justice to the house. We're trying to remedy that, so here's a full perspective view of the Guesthouse pub with Llewellyn (co-owner). Guests are invited to a complimentary drink with us on the evening of arrival.
Those familiar with the Guesthouse will see that we have been busy beavers making some improvements. The City View room with it's oval bath now has a shower and wrought iron and glass side tables, the Rainbow room now has a mod glass shower door, and Dave shows off the new Guest Info files which have been extensively updated and placed in each room. In the shower pics, LLewellyn shows what to do....
About 50% of our guests are from overseas, but it is always great to have our own South African visitors so they can sample the tastes, sounds and experiences of Durban for themselves. Seen in the photo are Craig (left -Johannesburg) who came for some diving here but got side-tracked and didn't get to do any, and Jorg (right -Cape Town) who has never been to Durban, seen with Guesthouse co-owner Llewellyn.
Getting ready for Indaba 2008, the huge South African travel conference taking place in Durban in 10 days time, here is Llewellyn (guesthouse co-owner) with the new headboard for the City View room we installed today. The design was inspired by a seat in a restaurant at Frankfort airport and was made by us carefully cutting out the design from a photo of the original and with imported fabrics to match the colour scheme of the room.
