Gay Loyalty South Africa

Our loyal and frequent guests will know that we have been running a successful loyalty programme for several years. From the 1st June we will be extending this programme to other select participating guesthouses in South Africa. The programme is being updated and extended to enable you to spend your points at other guesthouses or to spend your points accumulated at those guesthouses here with us. It is an entirely free programme and each guesthouse will be participating without any exchange of money - a way to say thank you to the discerning guests who prefer to stay gay while you are away from home and keep those guests within the gay circle of guesthouses in South Africa.

For every guest booked per night, you will receive 100 points. 1000 points accumulated gives you a FREE single room with your next booking of 2 or more nights. 1500 points for a FREE double room similarly.

We have created a new website for the loyalty programme - Gay Loyalty South Africa - and this will be updated as more guesthouses are added. The participation logo will also appear on the website of those guesthouses who have joined the programme.

It's a sizzling Summer Pool Party - Sat 31st March 2012

Bookings have opened for accommodation for the weekend of our Pool Party at the end of this month. We only have a few rooms, so please book early. All rooms are double accommodation only, unless you want to come in a group and share the Garden Studio (sleeps 4 comfortably .. 6 for fun) and the Bunk room which would suit under 25 singles.

If you're not coming to stay, you're welcome to come for the Pool Party only - tickets are R50, which includes a free drinks voucher for the party, as well as a free Lounge drinks voucher. There will be a cash bar, but you're also welcome to bring your own cooler bag.

Bonewear and Kinx will be sending some of their latest underwear and swimwear, so you will be able to see some of the good stuff.  Please click on our Facebook event and let us know now if you're coming so we can plan appropriately.

Hot Winter in Durban

Durban was stunning for the running of the Durban July Handicap yesterday. Glorious sunshine and great outfits. Llewellyn did some handiwork and added a crown to our velvet waitcoats and my kids Mark and Kate-Lynn joined us for the fun. The running of the 13th Race (naked guys) added some amusement and I managed to take a video clip which I will load on YouTube later.

July Races in Durban

It's the fabulous July Handicap horseracing in Durban on Saturday and here Llewellyn puts the finishing touches to his and my matching waistcoasts - in the theme "A Right Royal Affair" - Kings, Queens, Knaves and Knights... should be a load of fun and a Guesthouse full of guests who are able to stroll down to the racecourse just below the house.

Indaba Showcase

Taking a quick spin-around Indaba didn't really do justice to the magnificent displays.

It is actually quite incredible what a beautiful country we live in and amazing to see such entrepeneurship and industry to keep tourists coming to Southern Africa and happy. On display was every tourist's conceivable honeymoon destination, package deal or safari expedition. Wow!!

Congratulations to all the exhibitors from Southern Africa, as well as the invitation exhibitors from further afield in Africa and the Indian Ocean.

We are the world's playground and may your efforts to promote tourism in South Africa be richly rewarded.

Indaba Guests from Eastern Cape

Meet Guesthouse owners from the Addo Elephant Park area in the Eastern Cape, Oscar and Diedrich, seen here in Durban with Dave, co-owner of Durban View Guesthouse. The Dutch couple emigrated to South Africa 3 years ago and bought the Guesthouse Lemon 3 Lodge which is enjoying the increased tourism of the Eastern Cape. They are represented on the Addo Tourism stand at the Indaba show in Durban taking place now.

Hot Easter Bunnies

The Guesthouse is bursting at the seams with all rooms full for the Easter break. Here are some of the hot Easter bunnies enjoying a drink out and dinner before bringing "fresh meat" to The Lounge, Durban's gay club which was already packed by 10pm tonight.

Big South Africa

Our guests from Paris Fabien and Ugo did not realise how big South Africa is and that distances to drive between our major cities are great. So if you're wanting to visit the Kruger National Park and the St Lucia Wetlands Park, don't give yourself only 1 day to stay over in Durban. Firstly our Guesthouse is one of the few exclusively gay guesthouses in South Africa, we we are worth a few days visit in itself. Also Durban is the warmest city on the east coast of South Africa and our beaches and Indian Ocean are legendary. So be sure to include a few days to visit us here.

Exciting line-up of Events

We've got an exciting line-up of events planned for the Guesthouse this year. Now that we are able to edit our website more easily, we have added a Specials tab which takes you to our calendar of events and specials during the year. We plan to hold at least one event each month and several themed events such as the Leather and Kinx weekend.

Fri will be spent at the Guesthouse where welcome drinks will start the weekend and a Friday braai. Saturday will be our Leather/Kinx/Army/Jocks party to which Durban locals will also be invited. So book early, either a double room or if single book a sharing spot and come have some fun. The R980 price is per person and includes 2 nights accommodation and the Friday braai. Comrades in Durban 29 May

The annual Comrades Marathon from Durban to Pietermaritzburg is an uprun this year and we will be going down at the crack of dawn to watch the start. So if you're running, come stay with us and the other runners at the Guesthouse and we will get you to the start, or come see you off.

We also have an accommodation special "running" for entrants, so if you'd like to come stay and pay for 2 nights, we will give you a third night free. This will give you a chance to acclimatise in Durban and also wind down and relax after the big event. We can even arrange a massage for those weary muscles.

Andre Lammers In Durban



Mr Gay South Africa ™ Cape Town finalist Andre Lammers is in Durban taking up his prize sponsored by us of a weekend at the Guesthouse.

Gorgeous Andre is seen here with his friend Lindi and Guesthouse co-owner Dave en route to Mocambique where they are going for a week getaway to Ponta do Ouro. Andre will be launching his fashion design range in May so watch this space and we will post some pics.

Christmas Guesthouse fun

It's been a party every night for locals and Guests at the Guesthouse in the run-up to Christmas. A lot of this has to do with party animal and hooligan Marc who has been working on a ship in the Gulf of Mexico - 5 weeks on duty and 5 home - which means a  horny and thirsty "seaman" - in the middle seen here with Llewellyn (left) and Garret.

Hot weekend

Having fun in Durban are guests from Cape Town Byron and Travis (left in photos) joined by locals Shaun and Stuart (middle). Guesthouse owners Llewellyn and myself Dave are on the right.

We revved up the pub music a bit with an excellent selection the Cape boys brought with them and enjoyed some fun and laughter around the pub and pool. Great meeting you guys!
